What is the purpose of this blog? Basically, I am wanting to run for
congress, however the earliest age (at inauguration) is 25. I have been
wanting to run for congress since about 18, but I legally cannot do so
until then.
In the meantime, the reason I want to run is to make a
statement about how we can get real people back into this. The
government is not supposed to be run by a homogenous set of people, it
is supposed to be in flux, so that the citizens can be represented
appropriately. However, it seems the only elections people care about
are the presidential ones, which is run by the electoral college at that
point. We need to get nitty gritty into how these people are elected in
the first place: at the bottom.
If we have more people in general
running, and for good reason, we should see some change in our attitudes
of government in general. I want to run for the House of Reps, because I
believe that is a good place to start. The whole point of HoR is short
terms, not a permanent job. That's why there's division of power, and a
speaker in general. I could go on about this forever, but for now I'm
just going to have this entire statement as a preemptive facet towards
my goals.
By the way: My blog will be constructed around you being able to make your own decisions and opinions, but I simply want to make people aware. The whole point in me running is so that people can contact me with their questions and concerns, and try to make the decisions that run along with that. And if people don't tell me what they want, then I'll make decisions based off of my own moral compass, which will be expressed through my multiple postings here. And I think I'll make a values page sometime too.
